The ”Les Terrasses” shopping centre occupied the Montreal Eaton Centre site from 1975 to 1987. All of Victoria Street was even used to build it.
The official opening was in 1976. The ”Les Terrasses” Centre was managed at the time by Rouses Quebec Corporation Development and York Hannover Development (from 1978 to 1993).
In 1993, Ernst and Young took over the reins of the ”Les Terrasses” Centre. Then, in March 1994, the Montreal Eaton Centre was managed by Services de Gestion CEM Inc. (Montreal Eaton Centre Management Services) until September 1997.
In September 1997, after the fall of Services de Gestion CEM Inc., Cadillac Fairview Corporation Ltd. took over the shopping centre. The Montreal Eaton Centre has now been owned and operated by Ivanhoe Cambridge Inc. since July 1, 2000.
Today, the Montreal Eaton Centre, the largest downtown shopping centre in the city, houses over 175 shops and restaurants, a foreign exchange office and an indoor parking lot.
